2019 Genesis G90 vs. 2019 BMW 7 Series

Compare the New Genesis G90 to its Dallas Luxury Rival

When you're looking for the ultimate in luxury, performance, and style, Irving drivers have plenty of options. While you could spend countless nights and weekends researching the candidates, and then even more time paring the list to a select few, you still need to put competitors up against each other in order to decide which is the right option for your needs. We went ahead and did a lot of that work for you, by comparing our new Genesis G90 sedan against the BMW 7 Series sedan. We examined each model in the key areas that mean the most to local drivers, with the results detailed below.

Price

While this may seem like an odd category to look at when comparing premium sedans, the fact remains that nearly everyone needs to consider their budget when purchasing a new vehicle. Considering that the Genesis G90 comes in with an introductory Manufacturer's Suggested Retail price that's more than $14,000 lower than the base BMW 7 Series, this is a comparison that bears mentioning. Simply put, the Genesis G90 gives you the performance, features, and upscale environment you want, and at a much more affordable price than the 7 Series. In fact, even the top-of-the-line Genesis G90 that's equipped with optional all-wheel drive comes in at a lower price than the base BMW 740i.

Interior Comfort

The Genesis G90 has a more commanding presence on Arlington roads, since it sits taller and offers more ground clearance than the BMW 7 Series. That larger exterior size leads to a more spacious interior for drivers and passengers alike, with more available headroom in both the front and second rows. Front row passengers also enjoy more legroom, leading to a more enjoyable, relaxing space on long road trips.

Performance

When you're trying to get from Grand Prairie to Carrollton, you want to get there as quickly as you can. The Genesis G90 features a standard 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that generates 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque, clearly outperforming the 3.0-liter turbocharged 6-cylinder that comes standard in the BMW 7 Series and its output of 320 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque. While the BMW 7 Series holds the edge in estimated highway fuel economy, the Genesis G90 boasts a larger fuel tank that cuts down on the number of times you need to stop to refuel. Folks who drive in congested city traffic will appreciate the fact that the G90 has a tighter turning radius than the 7 Series, making it easier to maneuver on busy roads.

Amenities

Naturally, even introductory-level versions of both sedans are well-equipped. However, the lower-priced entry-level Genesis G90 also comes with standard features that are either expensive options or not offered at all for the base 7 Series. These include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, remote engine start, remote trunk release, seat memory, and a premium sound system.

Warranty

The G90 enjoys factory-backing for much longer terms than the 7 Series. The G90 comes with a 5-year/60,000-mile basic new car warranty, with roadside assistance for the same terms. The 7 Series only has a 4-year/50,000-mile new car warranty, and limits roadside assistance coverage to four years. The G90 enjoys a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, which is more than double the 7 Series' 4-year/50,000-mile warranty coverage. These advantages add even more value to the Genesis G90, since you don't have to worry about covered repairs for a longer period of time.
